SEZ will make farmers unemployed

Our country does not lack barren land. But the state governments by acquiring thousands of acres of fertile land are handing them over to industrialists and are making the farmers unemployed. It is a clear scam,” said BMS president Shri Girish Awasthi. He was talking to mediapersons in Varanasi. He said under the SEZ laws the government allows industrialists to set up industries at the 25 per cent of land and the remaining 75 per cent of the acquired land can be used for building educational institutions, business institutions, hospitals, residential buildings, airport, etc. He demanded that the government should amend the SEZ laws immediately and make the provision that industries would be set up only at the barren land. At the same time all the laws of the country should also be applicable in SEZ and industrialists should set up industries at the 75 per cent land too. He said with the creation of big malls by Reliance and other companies in associations with WalMart, the livelihood of retailers is being adversely hit. He called upon the countrymen and the retailers to oppose the anti-national polices of the UPA and the Left parties. State vice president Shri Devnath Singh, state general secretary Shri Sarveshchandra Divivedi and Prachar Pramukh Shri Ayodhya Prasad Shukla were also present at the press conference. (FOC)
